Its 10-point touch control supports intuitive navigation, while its 3:2 aspect ratio and 91% screen-to-body ratio provide more viewing space. The display also comes with TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification, hardware-level blue light reduction, and 1,920Hz high-frequency dimming.
Powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 processors with Intel Arc Graphics, the laptop is designed for everyday productivity and multitasking. Its slim design weighs approximately 1.31kg, while the 70Wh battery offers up to 19 hours of local 1080p video playback, according to HUAWEI’s tests. It also includes SuperTurbo for faster startup and app launches, along with AI-powered camera and audio features that enhance video calls and online meetings.
What Users Say
To give you a better idea of what to expect, we gathered insights from online reviews, including hands-on tests and video reviews. Here’s what reviewers say about the laptop’s design, display, performance, battery life, and overall user experience.
Build Quality and Design
In a review from ITPro, Solomon Klappholz highlighted the HUAWEI MateBook 14’s sleek design and distinctive finish. Available in pale Green or subtle Space Grey, the laptop has a clean, understated look. At approximately 1.31kg, it is also lightweight and portable, with a solid feel during use.
Display Quality and Touchscreen
GSMArena highlighted the OLED display as one of the laptop’s biggest strengths in its Huawei Matebook 14 (2024) review. Its 14.2-inch display delivers a sharp 2880 × 1920 resolution, vibrant colors, deep blacks, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The 3:2 aspect ratio provides more vertical space for viewing documents and spreadsheets, while its wide color coverage makes it suitable for photo and video work. The touchscreen also offers intuitive navigation, providing an alternative to the keyboard and trackpad.
However, Tech Spurt noted that the 3:2 aspect ratio leaves large black bars at the top and bottom when watching cinematic content, which may make the laptop less ideal for movie viewing.
Performance and Multitasking
In a YouTube review, Lim Reviews noted that the HUAWEI MateBook 14 comes with Intel Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 processor options. Both configurations can handle everyday tasks and AI applications, making them suitable for daily productivity.
Meanwhile, Tech Spurt’s YouTube review found that it handled multitasking with multiple apps open. HUAWEI’s SuperTurbo feature also helped speed up startup, although some apps still took time to launch.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 model delivered 1,735 in Cinebench single-core, 14,840 in multicore, and 3,521 in 3DMark Time Spy during testing. Despite the workload, its fans remained relatively quiet while effectively directing hot air out of the laptop.
Camera, Mic, and Audio
Tech Spurt found the laptop’s Full HD webcam suitable for Zoom meetings and everyday video calls. Its built-in microphones also picked up voices from some distance away with reasonably clear audio, making them useful for calls without a headset.
The stereo speakers delivered loud and clear sound, although the reviewer noted occasional distortion at maximum volume.
Battery
GSMArena’s HUAWEI MateBook 14 (2024) review measured 10 hours and 20 minutes of battery life during its YouTube video streaming test and 9 hours and 10 minutes during its browser test. Both tests used 400-nit screen brightness, while the streaming test also used 80dB volume.
Actual battery life will vary depending on usage, brightness, and other settings.
