How Many Coins Can You Earn Watching Short Dramas on Shopee for a Week?

Short dramas are easy to binge. Shopee Coins are always nice to have. So naturally, I had one question: How many Coins can I actually earn from watching Shopee Drama?

To find out, I did a one-week Shopee Drama Coin challenge. For seven days, I watched short dramas on Shopee, kept track of how much time I spent watching, and calculated how many Shopee Coins I earned along the way.

So, if you’ve been wondering how to earn coins in Shopee while doing something you already enjoy, this challenge should give you a better idea of what the experience can look like!

Disclaimer: This review is based on one user’s routine and experience. Coin rewards, required viewing time, daily limits, and reward availability may vary depending on the current in-app mechanics.

For the latest details, tap the ‘Watch To Earn’ banner that appears while you’re watching a Shopee Drama episode to check the available tasks and reward mechanics.

What Is Shopee Drama?

Shopee Drama is Shopee’s in-app short-drama feature, where you can watch quick, bite-sized drama episodes without leaving the app. Depending on what’s available, you can watch dramas across genres like romance, revenge, suspense, horror, family drama, comedy, fantasy, and more.

I already expected to see plenty of Chinese short dramas, Asian and Western dramas, and Tagalog-dubbed series in the selection. But seeing familiar Tagalog movies in the mix was a nice surprise for me. It’s perfect if you’re not the type to finish a movie in one sitting, since they’re split into shorter, episode-style parts. So, you can watch a few parts now and pick up where you left off later.

Now, for the highlight of this challenge, Shopee Drama videos come with ‘Watch To Earn’ tasks that allow you to collect Shopee Coins while you watch. So if you already spend your downtime catching up on short dramas, it’s a fun way to get some extra kaching along the way,

Watch to Earn: How to Earn Coins While Watching Shopee Drama

Wondering how to earn coins in Shopee through Shopee Drama? Keep an eye out for the ‘Watch To Earn’ banner that automatically appears on the screen while you’re watching.

Check the banner to see the reward tasks currently available to you. Depending on the active mechanics, you may see tasks such as:

  • ‘Daily Check-In’: Watch for at least 30 seconds each day to unlock your Daily Check-in reward. Once you’ve qualified, tap ‘Check-in’ to collect your Coins.

  • ‘Watch To Earn’: Keep watching until you meet the required watch time, then tap ‘Claim’ once your Coin reward is unlocked.

My Shopee Drama Coin Challenge: How It Worked

For this challenge, I watched Shopee Drama for seven days and tracked how much coin I earned along the way.

My starting Shopee Coin balance was 0.00.

Each day, I recorded my:

  • Episodes watched
  • Coins earned
  • Running Coin total
  • Any Daily Check-In or Watch To Earn prompts
  • Any reward limits or changes I notice

The goal is simple: watch consistently for seven days, track my Coin earnings, and see whether the whole experience is actually sulit.

Here’s the table where I’ll track the actual results of the challenge:

Day Episodes Watched Daily Check-In
(30 secs/day)
Coins Earned From Watching Total Earned That Day Running Coin Total
Day 1 X X Coins X Coins X Coins X Coins
Day 2 X X Coins X Coins X Coins X Coins
Day 3 X X Coins X Coins X Coins X Coins
Day 4 X X Coins X Coins X Coins X Coins
Day 5 X X Coins X Coins X Coins X Coins
Day 6 X X Coins X Coins X Coins X Coins
Day 7 X X Coins X Coins X Coins Total Coins

My Seven-Day Shopee Drama Coin Results

Days 1 – 2: Getting Started

For the first two days, I mostly focused on getting familiar with Shopee Drama and figuring out how the ‘Watch To Earn’ mechanics worked.

Choosing a drama to watch was pretty easy with all the genres available to choose from. Since rom-com is usually my go-to, I went straight for that category. I started with a few episodes of Mr. Lu, Your First Love is a Fallen Beauty (which was really cute, although that fake friend Lina really made my blood boil!) while also testing out how ‘Watch To Earn’ worked. It was very easy to keep watching because you could simply scroll up to jump straight into the next episode.

As for earning Coins, it took me a little while to figure out exactly how the rewards worked. I got the hang of it pretty quickly, though, since everything I needed was already there, including the available tasks, my progress, and when I could claim my next reward.

On Day 1, I watched 10 episodes and earned 6.35 Coins from watching. I also received 0.30 Coins from the Daily Check-In, bringing my first-day total to 6.65 Coins.

On Day 2, I watched 38 episodes and earned 10.15 Coins from watching. Combined with the 1 Coin Daily Check-In bonus, I earned 11.15 Coins, bringing my running total to 17.80 Coins.

This was also when I started to get a better idea of how the viewing rewards worked. Once I began keeping track of my earnings, I noticed a pattern in the early reward tiers.

  • Tier drops:
    • On Days 1 and 2, I earned 0.80 Coins per episode for the first 5 episodes.
    • After the 5th episode, the rewards gradually dropped to 0.40 Coins and eventually to 0.20 Coins per episode for subsequent watches.

  • 5-Minute Treasure Box: Here’s another little bonus to watch out for! At the time of writing, you may get a chance to win up to 1,000 Coins after watching for 5 minutes. I wasn’t quite that lucky, though. In my case, I got a 0.35 Coin bonus. But hey, extra Coins are extra Coins!

NOTE: The amount you can get from the Treasure Box may change, so check the reward currently shown in the app.

What I liked was that I didn’t really have to do anything differently. I just watched as usual and remembered to check the banner every now and then to see if I had any Coins ready to claim.

Days 3 – 5: Fitting Short Dramas Into My Day

By Day 3, Shopee Drama had become one of those things I’d open whenever I had a few minutes to spare.

I didn’t really set aside a strict time block for the challenge. I just watched whenever I had a little downtime during a break or before bed. Since the episodes were short, they were easy to squeeze into my day without feeling like I had to commit to a full-on binge.

By this point, though, I started noticing something interesting: the ‘Watch To Earn’ rewards weren’t exactly the same every day. Both the number of Coins you could earn and the required watch time could change at different points as you continue watching.

Starting on Day 3, the payout for the first 5 episodes I watched for the day actually increased. Instead of starting at 0.80 Coins like on Days 1 and 2, Episode 1 gave me 1.50 Coins!

The rewards then gradually decreased over the next few episodes:

  • Episode 1: 1.50 Coins
  • Episode 2: 1.20 Coins
  • Episode 3: 0.90 Coins
  • Episode 4: 0.80 Coins
  • Episode 5: 0.80 Coins + 0.35 Treasure Box Bonus

That meant I could already earn 5.55 Coins just from watching my first 5 episodes of the day.

Now, while the starting reward got better, the amount of coins for the following episodes got lower. On Day 3, I earned 0.40 Coins for Episodes 6 to 10. But from Day 4 onward, that dropped to 0.30 Coins per episode. The next 5 episodes also went from 0.20 Coins each to 0.15 Coins each.

Another key change happened with the required watch time. From Day 4 onward, after I reached around Episode 30, the required watch time per episode increased from 1 minute to 2 minutes. This was when I realized that watching more episodes didn’t necessarily mean I would earn more Coins.

On Day 3, I watched 47 episodes and earned 12.25 Coins from watching. Then, on Day 4, I watched almost twice as many episodes (84 episodes), but I still earned the exact same 12.25 Coins. With the reduced tier payouts and the longer 2-minute watch duration requirement, my Coins didn’t increase at the same pace for those two days.

I also accidentally discovered something pretty useful on Day 4. Up until then, I thought I had to tap ‘Claim’ whenever a viewing reward became available. At one point, I forgot to tap ‘Claim’ immediately and just kept watching. When I checked the banner again later, I realized that the Coin rewards had continued to accumulate on top of the ‘Claim’ button.

That said, there’s no need to interrupt your viewing every time a reward pops up. You can continue through the episodes and then just tap ‘Claim’ once you’re finished watching and ready to exit the Shopee app.

By Day 5, I was already used to checking the different reward amounts and viewing requirements. It ended up being my second biggest viewing day, with 108 episodes watched. That was when I came across the lowest reward tier. After passing around 80 to 100 episodes, the reward dropped all the way down to 0.03 Coins per episode.

For 108 episodes, I earned 12.82 Coins from watching, plus another 0.50 Coins from the Daily Check-In. That gave me 13.32 Coins for the day and brought my running total to 56.62 Coins.

Days 6 – 7: The Final Coin Count

By the last two days, I already had a routine: open Shopee Drama, pick up where I left off, check the available ‘Watch To Earn’ tasks, and let my rewards accumulate as I watched.

On Day 6, I watched much less than I had on the previous few days. I only watched 25 episodes but still earned 9.05 Coins from watching, plus another 0.50 Coins from the Daily Check-In. That brought my six-day total to 66.17 Coins.

At this point, it was pretty clear that watching more episodes didn’t necessarily mean earning Coins at the same pace. The further I watched, the smaller the rewards became and, in some cases, the longer I needed to watch each episode before earning them. This became even more noticeable on Day 7.

On Day 7, after passing Episode 101, the required watch time increased again. This time, I had to watch for 3 minutes to earn 0.03 Coins. Compared with the earlier episodes, where the rewards were higher and the required viewing time was shorter, earning extra Coins became much slower the longer I watched.

Another thing I learned while completing the challenge was that the Daily Check-In works as a streak. If you miss a day, the reward resets to the minimum of 0.30 Coins, so it’s worth remembering to check in each day if you want to keep the streak going.

And after seven days, the final result was:

  • Total episodes watched: 428 Episodes
  • Total Shopee Coins earned from Watch To Earn: 74.67 Coins
  • Total Shopee Coins earned from Daily Check-In: 5 Coins

Day Episodes Watched Daily Check-In
(30 secs/day)
Coins Earned From Watching Total Earned That Day Running Coin Total
Day 1 10 0.30 Coins 6.35 Coins 6.65 Coins 6.65 Coins
Day 2 38 1.00 Coin 10.15 Coins 11.15 Coins 17.80 Coins
Day 3 47 0.50 Coins 12.25 Coins 12.75 Coins 30.55 Coins
Day 4 84 0.50 Coins 12.25 Coins 12.75 Coins 43.30 Coins
Day 5 108 0.70 Coins 12.82 Coins 13.32 Coins 56.62 Coins
Day 6 25 0.50 Coins 9.05 Coins 9.55 Coins 66.17 Coins
Day 7 116 1.50 Coins 11.80 Coins 13.30 Coins 79.47 Coins

Disclaimer: The episode count in the table is the total number of episodes I watched across multiple Shopee Drama titles per day, not the number of episodes from just one drama. Throughout the 7-Day Challenge, I watched different titles each day, including Filipino movies and foreign drama series, and sometimes switched to a different one after just a few episodes.

Is Watching Shopee Drama for Coins Worth It?

After seven days of watching Shopee Drama, I ended the challenge with 79.47 Shopee Coins. So, sulit ba?

For me, the answer depends on what you’re hoping to get out of it:

  • If you love short dramas: It’s 100% worth it. You’re catching up on fun, quick stories during your commute or merienda break anyway, so getting free Shopee Coins on the side is an awesome bonus.
  • If you’re trying to earn a lot of coins quickly: Keep in mind that ‘Watch To Earn’ isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. Because of how the reward tiers step down (and the required watch times increase), watching past 30 to 40 episodes in a single day yields diminishing returns. The later rewards can take as long as 3 minutes of watching per episode to unlock.

If your goal is to earn Shopee Coins fast, ‘Watch To Earn’ can be an easy way to start, especially since some of the earlier rewards only require around 30 to 60 seconds of watching. From my experience, the first few episodes of the day gave me the better rewards, while the payouts gradually became smaller the longer I watched.

Another thing I really liked was the Daily Check-In feature. It only required 30 seconds of watching each day to unlock a separate Coin reward, so it felt like an easy extra on top of the regular ‘Watch To Earn’ tasks.

Our final verdict: Shopee Drama is definitely worth trying if you enjoy short-form series and want to earn Shopee Coins at the same time. If you’re already going to spend your downtime watching anyway, earning a little extra along the way is a welcome plus!

The tasks are easy to follow, the required watch time is manageable, and you can start earning without having to change much about how you already watch.

How to Check Your Shopee Drama Coin Earnings

So, where do your ‘Watch To Earn’ rewards go after watching? Here’s how I checked and claimed the Coins I earned:

1. Tap the ‘Watch To Earn’ banner while watching a Shopee Drama episode.

2. Check your Coin Savings on the rewards page to see how many Coins you’ve collected so far.

3. Ready to cash them out? Tap ‘Claim’ when you’re eligible to withdraw your Coins. This will take you to the ‘Coin Claim’ page.

  • Choose how many Coins you want to claim. You can select from the fixed amounts available based on your current Coin Savings:
    • 5.00
    • 10.00
    • 30.00
    • 50.00
    • 100.00
    • 500.00

4. Tap ‘Claim Now’ to transfer the selected amount to your Shopee Coins Wallet.

5. Tap ‘Record’ on the upper-right side of the screen to check your Coin withdrawal history.

6. Check your Shopee Coins balance. Go to Me > My Wallet > Coins, then tap History > Earning to check if the Coins you earned from watching Shopee Drama have been credited to your Shopee Coins balance.

Your ‘Watch To Earn’ Coin earnings should appear as Shopee Live & Video Rewards.

And that’s it. Nag-enjoy ka na, kumita ka pa!

One thing to remember: you can only withdraw your Coin Savings to your Shopee Coins Wallet once per day. You’ll also need to choose from the fixed claim amounts shown in the app, so you may not always be able to withdraw your entire Coin Savings at once.

So, if you’ve been searching for how to earn Shopee Coins fast, it’s best to keep your expectations realistic. ‘Watch To Earn’ is a nice way to pick up some extra Coins while enjoying short dramas, but the reward amounts and earning opportunities depend on the current mechanics.

Note: Watch times, reward amounts, limits, claim requirements, and available tasks may change. Before you start watching, you can tap the ‘Watch To Earn’ banner that appears on the episode screen to check the latest tasks and terms and conditions.

Tips for Making the Most of Shopee Drama Rewards

If you want to try your own Shopee Drama challenge, here are a few things that made the whole experience easier for me:

  • Check the ‘Watch To Earn’ banner before you start. I found it helpful to see what tasks were available first, so I knew what to look out for while watching.
  • Watch during your usual downtime. I never really set aside a dedicated time for the challenge. I usually watched whenever I had a few minutes to spare, usually during a break or before bed.
  • Make the most of the first few episodes. Your first 5 episodes of the day pay out the highest coin rates (up to 1.50 Coins for Episode 1 from Day 3 onward, plus a 5-Minute Treasure Box Bonus).
  • You don’t need to tap ‘Claim’ every time. You don’t have to interrupt your viewing to tap ‘Claim’ after every single episode. The coins accumulate on their own, so you just need to make sure you hit ‘Claim’ once you’re done watching for the day to collect all the Coins.
  • Maintain your Daily Check-In streak. The Daily Check-In is one of the easiest ways to boost your coin total for just 30 seconds of watch time. However, if you skip even a single day, the bonus resets back to the minimum starting rate of 0.30 Coins, so try not to break your streak!

  • Pay attention to the required watch time. This can change the further you go. From Day 4 onwards, I had to watch for 2 minutes per episode after around Episode 30. By Day 7, after Episode 101, that increased again to 3 minutes to earn 0.03 Coins.
  • Use Wi-Fi when you can. If you’re planning to watch a lot in one day, this can help you avoid using too much mobile data.
  • Like the video to save your recently watched episode. This made it easier for me to get back to the episode or series I was following.

    • Another option is to head to Live & Video in the Shopee app and tap ‘See all’ under the recommendations. It will show the last episode you watched from a specific drama, making it easy to pick up where you left off.

  • Check your Shopee Coin balance afterward. I also made a habit of checking my balance to make sure the Coins I claimed had been credited successfully. It felt fulfilling seeing my Coin balance go up after all that watching!
