Organic Red Quinoa 500g and 1 kg Gluten-free | Vegan | Non-GMO | Organic | Naturally Good Superfood Product of Peru Net Weight : 500g and 1 kg Quinoa, pronounced as "keen-wah", is a South American staple grown in Peru. It is considered as a sacred gift from the gods and revered to as the "mother grain" by the Incas. Naturally gluten-free, quinoa does not belong to the same family as wheat, barley, oats or rye. Did you know that quinoa is actually not a grain? it is known as a pseudo-cereal, a seed consumed and prepared like a grain. Similar to rice when cooked, this versatile superfood has gained popularity due to its unique nutritional profile. Benefits of consuming quinoa: 1. Complete plant-based source of protein Quinoa is considered a complete protein source, meaning it provides all essential and non-essential amino acids. It is exceptionally high in the amino acid lysine, which is usually lacking in plant-based food. 2. Nutritional powerhouse Quinoa, aside from being an excellent source of plant-based protein, is also a good source of iron, calcium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, folate, and zinc. 3. Aids in weight loss A serving of quinoa has 6g protein and 2g fiber which helps curb cravings and satisfy hunger. 4. Anti-inflammatory Quinoa contains anti-inflammatory flavonoids quercetin & kaempferol known to reduce the risk of various diseases such as heart attack and diabetes. 5. Lower in calories vs white rice One cup of quinoa has 40 fewer calories than white rice. Quinoa contains digestible complex carbohydrates and dietary fibre. White rice, on the other hand. is processed, contains refined carbohydrates, and is considered a high-glycemic food. Natural and organically grown, our quinoa has undergone mechanical desaponization and washing to remove the saponin (bitter exterior). It is easy to prepare and has no bitter aftertaste, just cook it as you would cook rice. To prepare quinoa, follow a ratio of 1 part quinoa to 2 parts water/broth. Red quinoa cooks in 15-20 minutes. How to choose the right kind of quinoa: 1. White quinoa is the most common among all variants. It is the fluffiest when cooked and is a great substitute for rice. 2. Tri-color quinoa is less fluffier than white. It is best used as a colorful addition to salads, grain bowls, and casseroles. 3. Red and black quinoa cook 5 minutes longer than white quinoa. Both are firmer in texture and nuttier in taste compared to white quinoa. Both variants are perfect for cold salads as both hold texture well. Note : 1.
