Remove the brake pads from the caliper. If you are using a bleed kit, attach the syringe to the bleeder screw on the caliper. If you are not using a bleed kit, you can use a clean rag to plug the bleeder screw hole. Step 3: Bleed the brakes Open the reservoir cap on the brake lever. Fill the reservoir with hydraulic mineral oil. Slowly close the reservoir cap. Open the bleeder screw on the caliper. Squeeze the brake lever slowly and evenly until you see fresh oil coming out of the bleeder screw. Close the bleeder screw. Repeat steps 4-6 until you see no more air bubbles in the system. Top off the reservoir with hydraulic mineral oil. Screw on the reservoir cap. Reinstall the brake pads. Reinstall the wheel. Step 4: Test the brakes Squeeze the brake lever a few times to make sure that the brakes are working properly. If the brakes are not working properly, you may need to repeat the bleeding process. Tips Be careful not to overfill the reservoir, as this can cause the brakes to leak. If you are using a bleed kit, be sure to follow the instructions that came with the kit. If you are not using a bleed kit, be careful not to let any air into the system. It is a good idea to bleed your brakes regularly, especially if you ride in wet or muddy conditions. How often to bleed your brakes How often you need to bleed your brakes will depend on the conditions you're riding in. If you're riding in dry, dusty conditions, you may only need to bleed your brakes every few months. However, if you're riding in wet or muddy conditions, you may need to bleed your brakes every month or two. A good rule of thumb is to check your brakes regularly and bleed them if they feel spongy or unresponsive. You can also use a brake fluid tester to determine when it's time to bleed your brakes.
